“Act Now, Don't Wait!” ELECAM, Stakeholders Urge Maximum Civic Engagement

Voters’ rolls close on August 31, 2026 in preparation for council and parliamentary polls in 2027.

As the August 31, 2026 statutory deadline for the annual revision of the national electoral register rapidly approaches, Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, alongside major political parties across the entire political spectrum, have launched an intensive, nationwide mobilization effort.

Fast-approaching Deadline

With the voter registration window closing in a matter of days, election officials, community organizers, and party leaders are blanketing local neighborhoods and rural divisions. Their shared objective is to ensure that every eligible citizen completes their enrollment, secures their voter card. And protects their fundamental right to participate in the 2027 legislative, municipal, and local council elections.

ELECAM Enters Final Lap

An official at ELECAM headquarters in Yaounde recalled that the annual revision of the electoral roll, which began on January 1, 2026, is officially entering its final stretch. The official told Cameroon Tribune Online that mobile units and fixed registration centers across all 10 regions are operating at full capacity. To capture newly eligible voters and assist citizens needing updates to their personal details.

Deadline Reminders

"Elections Cameroon has been conducting operations for the annual revision of the electoral register since January 31, 2026," stated the ELECAM official. "These operations, underway across the national territory, will come to an end on August 31, 2026. In fact, we are now entering the final lap. The objective of this campaign is, first of all, to remind our fellow citizens of this deadline. And to raise awareness that they only have just a few days left to accomplish all formalities relating to the revision of electoral registers," the official added.

Beware Of Last-minute

ELECAM emphasized that the drive goes beyond enrolling first-time voters. It is equally vital for citizens who have changed addresses, corrected civil status details, or transferred their voting center. The ELECAM representative issued an urgent appeal to the general public to avoid last-minute rush: "Our message is therefore quite simple: act now, rather than wait for the last day."

CPDM Rallies Grassroots

The ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM party is carrying out a systematic grassroots campaign across its section networks. To fortify its voter base ahead of upcoming council and parliamentary elections scheduled for 2027. Highlighting the momentum within local constituencies, Honorable Mbongyor Naomi Ngando, CPDM Member of Parliament for Donga Mantung II (Ndu), confirmed that party structures are fully deployed to escort supporters to ELECAM registration kits.

Responding to media inquiries regarding the final enrollment drive, Hon. Mbongyor Naomi Ngando emphasized the unyielding support provided to local voters: "Nothing more than to encourage them," she affirmed. Noting that the CPDM leadership is actively driving local participation to ensure maximum registration figures across Ndu Constituency and the wider Donga Mantung Division.

MRC In North West

"As North West Regional Coordinator of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, MRC Party, we have sensitized and mobilized our militants across the seven divisions. And we are actually accompanying them to get registered because the process ends technically in the North West Region on Friday August 28, given that Saturday, Sunday and Mondays are not working days," Tiibam Kube explained. The party is conducting direct door-to-door outreach across all seven divisions to ensure no prospective voter is left out due to local office closures.

Across The Board

Across the national territory, CPDM section presidents, local officials, and parliamentary representatives are holding field meetings to encourage party members and young citizens to secure their voter cards before the August 31, 2026 window closes. These organized efforts are designed to ensure full electoral readiness as the party prepares its structures for the key democratic contests ahead.

PCRN Consistent, Coherent

Opposition parties have actively complemented ELECAM’s administrative outreach by deploying field agents to escort citizens directly to registration centers and mobile biometric kits.
