European Union Deforestation Regulation: Cocoa Stakeholders Assure Compliance Readiness

F our months away from the full implementation of the European Union Deforestation Regulation’s (EUDR) deadline, cocoa sta­ keholders including exporters, processors, and transporters have assured the Government of Cameroon of their readi­ ness to comply with the EUDR threefold terms of geo-loca­ lization, legality of produce, and agroforestry traceability. This was revealed during a consultation meeting hosted by the Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Atangana Mbarga yesterday, August 25, 2026 in Yaounde. Owing to the new EUDR terms that obliges all farms established from 2021 to abs­ tain from deforestation, old and new Cameroonian farms alike according to Minister Luc Magloire Atangana Mbarga, are in absolute conformity with the given re­ gulations. “Actors have im­ plored all technical, financial, and digital measures needed to ensure the apt compliance of cocoa beans producers to the EUDR. Cameroon is ab­ solutely ready for the Euro­ pean market,” Minister Luc Magloire Atangana Mbarga told the press smilingly.
