As the new season of some popular championships kicks off, a handful of Cameroonian players have the daunting task of proving they merit their places in their respective clubs and even the national selections.
A large number of football lovers in Cameroon fol low several leagues abroad. Beyond the com petition itself, what draws millions of supporters is the wish to see Cameroonian players carry the nation’s colours high on the global stage. Thus, as the 2026–2027 season of some of the world’s most popular championships gets underway, Cameroonian players in these leagues will be the focus of attention; not just for suppor ters, but also for the technical staff of the various national teams as they prepare for future competitions. In the English Premier League, few players can be cited, with Bryan Mbeumo of Manchester United headlining the list. In their opening match of the season, Manchester United fell 2-0 to Hull City on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Mbeumo will be joined by Carlos Baleba, who was officially announced as having joined the Red Devils yesterday, August 25, 2026. Despite experiencing a re cent dip in form, the Cameroonian midfielder, who produced notable performances with his former club Brighton, is determined to deliver.
