China’s Xinjiang Region: Not Left Out Of National Goodies!

A white paper published in September 2025 undergirds the role of the Communist Party of China, CPC in offering proper understanding of the situation on the ground.

  

In order to ensure a longer term development in its northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the China - through the Information Office of the State Council in the capital, Beijing - has released new guidelines. Titled, “CPC Guidelines for Governing Xinjiang in the New Era: Practice and Achievements,” the white paper was published on September 19, 2025. To mark the 70th anniversary of the administrative area, Chinese media reported.

 

Respecting Due Processes
According to Xinhua news agency, the document is a bold step “to govern Xinjiang in accordance with the law, maintain stability through ethnic unity, strengthen cultural identity and bonds, bring greater prosperity to the region and its people, and develop Xinjiang from a long-term perspective.” In this vein, the document seeks to achieve an 8-prong objective. Such as viewing and planning in Xinjiang from a strategic perspective; upholding social stability and lasting peace and security as the overall goal of the work related to Xinjiang. 

 

People’s Appropriation 
Similarly, it is also to rally the people's support for the policy; foster a stronger sense of the Chinese nation as one community; ensure that religions in China conform to China's realities; and enhance and carry forward core Socialist values. Also, the goal is to promote high-quality development centred on the people's wellbeing and strengthen the Communist Party's leadership over the work in Xinjiang.

 

Enormous Investments, Phenomenal Growth 
Since 2012, China has allocated more than 4 trillion yuan ($562.3 billion) in transfer payments to Xinjiang, including nearly 543.48 billion yuan in 2024 alone, according to the white paper. Propelled by its natural resource and industrial base, Xinjiang has accelerated efforts to develop a modern industrial system. It is no surprise that Xinjiang has been China’s top cotton producer for 32 consecutive years, with the mechanization of plowing, planting, and harvesting reaching 97 per cent, the white paper notes.

 

Increased Trade Partners 
Accelerated development in Xinjiang has seen the establishment of 19 ports, including the Kunjirap Port, which is open all-year-round. While the number of Xinjiang’s economic and trade partners increased from a handful in the 1950s to 196 countries and regions in 2012, and to 211 in 2024, the document added.

 

Religious Liberties 
Moreover, Xinjiang implements the Communist Party of China’s policy on respect of people’s religious beliefs. It administers religious affairs in accordance with the law, allows religious groups to manage their own affairs independently, and guides religions to be compatible with socialist society, said the whitepaper.
In the area of health, average life expectancy in Xinjiang rose from 30 years in 1949 to 77 years in 2024. Culture-wise, by 2024, Xinjiang was home to 195 institutions of cultural heritage protection at all levels, had 150 registered museums, and boasted 9,545 verified and registered immovable cultural relics. Amongst them six were world cultural heritage sites and 133 were key cult...
