Gov’ts Midterm Projects: Budgetary Choices, Context Explained

Finance Minister, Louis Paul Motaze, was before the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly on July 3, 2026.

After Government’s Medium- Term Economic and Budgetary Programming Document for 2027–2029 was tabled at the National Assembly, the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze was before the Finance and Budget Committee, chaired by Honourable Rosette Ayayi Moutymbo to present and defend the document. In his presentation to the Committee, the Minister of Finance highlighted key infrastructure and development projects in various sectors, envisaged economic growth, inflation, external trade, reviews of current budget execution, revenue mobilisation strategies, public spending policies and debt management. The Minister also presented main risks that could affect the smooth implementation of projects such as potential delays in implementing certain tax measures, pressures related to the security situation, the financial fragility of some companies in the electricity sector, as well as tighter financing conditions in the domestic market. Moreover, State budgets for the next three years is greatly linked to the expected conclusion of a new economic and financial programme with the International Monetary Fund.
