Bamenda Urban Cross: The Main Transformation Road Project

Construction work on the 6.638 km project is at moment globally 47.82 per cent executed.

A ll attention in Bamenda in particular and the North West Region in general is currently focused on the ongoing construction works of the 6.638 km Urban Crossing Road as the work is giving more prominence to the city of Bamenda. It stretches from Amour Mezam Junction-Fi­ nance- Junction- Veterinary Junction passing through Ayaba Street to T-Junction continues to Hospital Roundabout and makes a U-turn through Food Market- City Chemist Roundabout through SONAC Street back to Veterinary Junction. The Prime Minister Head of Go­ vernment, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, officially launched construc­ tion works on this section of the road which is Lot 4B of the Ba­ badjou-Bamenda road project on September 17, 2025 in Bamenda. By mid August this 2026, close to 11 months after the launch cere­ mony of the project, the North West Regional Delegate of Public Works, Nfor Cyprian Ngenge, says the about FCFA 26 billion project is globally 47.82 per cent execu­ ted. Sponsored with the loan from the World Bank and the IBRD with the Cameroon government’s participa­ tion, the project is the talk on every lip. This is because of the palpable and transformative work going on every day. The Regional Delegate of Public Works, Nfor Cy­ prian, specified that as per task, the right of way is done 6.3 on 6.5 km, earth works 6.1 on 6.5km, foundation 3.6 on 6.5km, 6,399 gutters prefabricated and 5,086 already placed, all fabricated boxed culverts all completed. Drainage structures are almost all completed and networks such as water, elec­ tricity and telecommunications structures at 52.2 per cent displa­ ced.
