North-West: Thousands Back To School

T housands of pupils, stu- dents and teachers have flooded schools across Donga-Mantung Division as the 2026/2027 academic year opens, with classes effectively underway in Nwa Subdivision. The strong turnout was confir- med during a tour of several schools by the Senior Divisional Officer for Donga-Mantung, Bas- silekin George Magloire Emma- nuel, who inspected classrooms and teaching activities to assess the effectiveness of the school resumption. In the schools visi- ted, classrooms were occupied and teachers were actively conducting lessons, giving a clear indication of an effective return to school. The SDO ob- served the teaching and lear- ning activities and interacted with some teachers and stu- dents during the tour. The visit formed part of the administra- tion’s efforts to assess the level of school resumption across the Division and ensure that tea- ching and learning get off to a smooth start. The SDO was accompanied by the Divisional Officer for Nwa, the Mayor of Nwa Council and the Member of Parliament for Nwa Constituency. Addressing teachers and students, SDO Bassilekin George Magloire Em- manuel commended the tea- chers for their commitment and sense of duty. He called on pa- rents to continue sending their children to school and urged students to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their studies. The SDO further reas- sured the population of the ad- ministration’s commitment to creating a peaceful and condu- cive environment for teaching and learning.
