International Criminal Police Organization: Commits To Strengthen Cooperation

T he celebration of the United Nations International Police Cooperation Day, organised by the General Delegation for National Security, sought to showcase the activities of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in Cameroon. It also aimed at sensitising the public on its role in combating transnational crime under the theme, “Protecting Vulnerable People, Figh­ ting Crime Together”. The event was held on September 7, 2026, at the National Central Bureau in Yaounde. Police Commissioner Michel Dang Alada, representative of the National Central Bureau and Head of the Ex­ tradition and Investigation Depart­ ment, presented the structure and operations of the bureau. He high­ lighted the importance of interna­ tional cooperation in tackling crimes that cross national borders, including human trafficking, cybercrime, stolen vehicle trafficking and fugitive cases. A tour of the technical room was showcased, featuring specialised equipment and communication sys­ tems that enable the bureau to re­ main connected to the international INTERPOL network and facilitate in­ formation sharing and investigations across national borders.
