Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship: Lions Edging Forward

A t press time yesterday, the Volleyball Lions of Cameroon were playing their last Group D game against Rwanda in the 2026 Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship ongoing in Tunisia. Both teams had already recorded two consecutive victories. The stake of yesterday’s match was therefore top spot in the group. This is crucial because it determines each team’s path in the knockouts. Under the competition format, the winners of Groups A, C, and D advance straight to the quarter-finals, while the re­ maining teams will contest with each other to decide the other quar­ ter-finalists. Cameroon deserves credit for the level it has shown since the start of the tournament. Their opening victory against the Democratic Re­ public of the Congo on 15 September 2026 was a strong boost for the team, which went on to beat the Central African Republic (CAR) on 16 September 2026. That match underlined Cameroon's superiority as they convincingly downed their opponents 3–0 (25–15, 25–11, 25– 17).
