North West: Bui PIB Execution On Good Footing

Kumbo (Bui) – The execution rate of PIB in Bui Division is more than satisfactory. The conclusion was ar­ rived at by development stakeholders during the monthly participatory fol­ low-up of the execution of public investment projects in Bui Division that held in Kumbo, Friday, Septem­ ber 18, 2026. Speaking during the evaluation meeting, Jong Blaise Chah, Bui Divisional Delegate of the Eco­ nomy, Planning and Regional Deve­ lopment, MINEPAT declared that du­ ring the August 2026 meeting, the Division was at 39.7 percent, adding that the 9-point difference was a remarkable achievement. He said the security challenges already being experienced was further compoun­ ded by the over two weeks declared lockdown which slowed down the progress of work in the field. The MINEPAT Divisional boss said, the six councils in Bui Division were equally doing their best in project execution. He said in terms of per­ formance ranking, Elak council topped the chart with 75. 83 percent exe­ cution rate followed by Mbiame with 65.51 percent and Nkum scoring 55.04 percent. The fourth position went to Kumbo council with 33.92 percent. Nkor-Noni with 32.31 per­ cent and Jakiri with 26.17 percent. Quizzed on the reason for the dismal performances of some of the council in the same administrative unit, the Delegate said, some projects are awarded late, including difficulties in mobilizing the required finances by enterprises, as well as the award of many projects to the same contrac­ tor. He said the security challenges notwithstanding, contractors should develop what he described as com­ munity entry where they have to adapt strategies of engaging com­ munities in the execution train.
