CAF Women’s Football Olympic Qualifying Tournament: Cameroon In Round Three

The African champions, will not be part of the second round action this October, having advanced directly to the next stage after Guinea’s withdrawal.

A ccording to the calendar for the African women’s football Olym­ pic qualifying tournament for Los Angeles 2028, second-round ac­ tion takes place across the continent between 5–13 October 2026. But Ca­ meroon will not be part of this window, having advanced directly to round three after Guinea withdrew from the qualifiers reportedly due to a lack of funding. The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations winners are thus moving closer to a second Olympic appearance after the 2012 edition. In effect, the African qualifiers (with 35 nations initially running) consist of five rounds played as home-and-away ties. The already concluded first-round matches, contested in June 2026 by the six lowest-ranked teams, saw Co­ moros, Madagascar and Mauritius qua­ lify for the second round, where all other nations enter the fray this Octo­ ber. At the end of this October phase, 16 teams will progress to round three, where Cameroon already finds itself. The Indomitable Lionesses will face the winner of the second-round tie bet­ ween the Democratic Republic of Congo and Côte d’Ivoire.
