Remaining Vigilant

In recent years, the attacks of Boko Harm, which had considerably reduced due to government and combined ef­ forts, are unfortunately on the return and recurrent. Villages are being at­ tacked, houses burnt, people kidnapped and some killed with animals and other belongings looted. Someone recently described the situation as being preca­ rious to the extent that there are ghost villages (using the metaphor to explain the fact that the villages have been deserted). In the face of the raising security threats, asymmetric attacks, and kid­ nappings from Boko Haram and its splin­ ter factions, it is important for govern­ ment and the population to remain vi­ gilant and enhance collaboration to pro­ tect lives and property. Residents and community members on their part have to rely on practical security directives from authorities and collaborate with officers for an apt outcome. Government on its part does not need to relent its efforts in fighting the enemy, even if considerably success has been registe­ red. Those residing in the border localities which are prone to these attacks are called upon to closely monitor their surrounding and strange movements. That is, they should pay close attention to unfamiliar faces entering the village, neighbourhood, or agricultural lands, especially around border areas, livestock markets, and the Lake Chad basin. When this information is immediately and well transmitted to concerned persons, it permits for proper action to be taken to foil any attack attempts. In simple words...
