National Development Orientations: Next Three-year Directives Under Scrutiny

Covering the period 2027-2029, the text was tabled at the National Assembly during a plenary chaired by House Speaker, Theodore Datouo, on July 3, 2026.

Government’s main macroeconomics and budgetary orientation programmes for the next three years (2027- 2029) is currently under study in Parliament. The document which outlines projections for public action and is in line with the goals of the National Development Strategy (2020-2030) was tabled at the National Assembly on July 3, 2026 during a plenary sitting chaired by the House Speaker, Theodore Datouo. Prior to that, the Chairmen’s Conference of the lawmaking House examined and declared admissible the Medium-term Economic and Budgetary Programming Document which covers the abovementioned period. Basically, the document which was prepared by the government, places emphasis on increasing domestic revenue, improving public spending efficiency, funding priority sectors, strengthening infrastructure development, developing human capital, and maintaining the sustainability of public finances. Government’s medium- term economic outlook as well as its public spending priorities for the nation are clearly elaborated in the three-year plan.
