Eye Care: Population Screened

This was during a campaign organised on Friday 24 January 2025 by a local bank, in partnership with the Eye Department of the PCC Health Service in Douala.

The importance of eye health cannot be underestimated. From detecting eye diseases to good brain health, taking care of your eyes helps prevent eye problems and diseases in the future. Routine eye exams and preventive health measures can help keep eyes healthy. In Cameroon, eye care is still considered unaffordable for much of the population. As part of its corporate social responsibility to give back to the community in which it operates, the Uba Foundation identified a growing need to support better eyes and raise awareness of the importance of eye care. Reasons why they organised an eye screening campaign on Friday 24 January 2025. The initiative, in partnership with the Eye Department of the PCC Health Service, saw 150 people screened. The event kicked off the 2025 activity, which will take place monthly in Uba offices in five regions of Cameroon. In Douala, about 150 people were screened and educated on the importance of eye care on Friday 24 January. According to the Head of Coprorate Communication, Uba Cameroon, Fointama Beiza Che, the eyes remain an important organ in the human body. Eye care is still considered expensive by the average person.
