Improving The Business Climate in Africa : PM Underscores Leveraging Opportunities

Joseph Dion Ngute while participating at the Prime Minister’s Panel at the Africa CEO Forum in Abidjan on May 12, 2025 also called on regular dialogue to improve private sector growth.
As part of events marking deliberations at the 12th edition of the annual summit of the Africa CEO Forum in Abidjan, the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute participated at the Prime Minister’s Panel which took place on May 12, 2025. Four Heads of Government took part in the panel discussions, who besides the Cameroonian Prime Minister, included and that of Tanzania (Kasim Majaliwa), Guinea Conakry (Amadou Oury Bah) and Robert Beugré Mambé of Côte d’Ivoire.
The Editor of the Africa Report, Patrick Smith moderated the exchanges which centred on three main issues; efforts to power the private sector, intra-Africa trade and funding projects. Leveraging the energy potentials of the continent, improving infrastructure and the use of artificial intelligence in accelerating growth in Africa are other areas on which the four policy makers shared views. They also described the private sector as an indispensable partner in powering economic growth and development.
Taking the floor at the session, the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute highlighted the efforts Cameroon is making to create a healthy climate for the private sector. He mentioned considerable fiscal policies to private enterprises as a means to promote development, organisation of economic forums to facilitate public-private partnership and constant dialogue between the private sector and the Investment Promotion Agency to improve the business climate in Cameroon.
On relations with the private sector, the four Prime Ministers agreed that the private sector is indispensable for growth.
