Cameroon-Equatorial Guinea: Deepening Cross-border Oil & Gas Cooperation

Equato Guinea’s Vice President yesterday November 19, 2025 held in-depth discussions with officials of SNH on how to iron out differences to fast-track ongoing projects in the sector.

Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, two neighbouring and friendly countries of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), have set a new springboard for their mutually-beneficial cooperation, notably in the oil and gas sectors. Visiting Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, yesterday November 19, 2025 had an in-depth working session with officials of the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH). An opportunity to evaluate the path covered in cross-border oil and gas projects as well as iron out differences for better cooperation in executing ongoing projects for the mutual benefit of the two States and peoples. Understandably so as Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea share a lot in common and are bound by history and geography to forge ahead as one. Addressing the Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President and the other senior officials who accompanied him, Mrs Nathalie Moudiki, who represented the Executive General Manager of SNH, Adolphe Moudiki, saw in the high-level visit conviviality that is highly needed in executing joint projects for common good. “This visit, Mr Vice President, is highly symbolic. It signifies shared determination between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, two brotherly countries united by history and geography, to deepen their strategic cooperation in the hydrocarbons sector,” Mrs Moudiki said. She noted that the visit came at the time the two countries are bracing up to show to the rest of the world their ingenuity in the subsoil. Indeed, the ceremony that preceded an in-camera working session between the two parties, served as a moment to assess the ground covered in Yoyo/Yolanda gas project between the two countries. As a matter of fact, Presidents Paul Biya of Cameroon and Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea on March 17, 2023 at Unity Palace signed an Accord for the joint exploitation of the cross-border hydrocarbon fields.
