Match Incidents : CAF Opens Investigations

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opened disciplinary investigations into incidents that occurred during the two quarter-finals matches at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025. CAF confirmed on Monday that it is examining events from the fixtures between Cameroon and host Morocco, as well as Algeria and Nigeria, following reports of unacceptable conduct involving players and officials.
In a statement published on its official social media platforms on 12 January 2026, Africa’s football governing body said the matters had been referred to its Disciplinary Board, adding that appropriate sanctions would be imposed should any individuals be found guilty of misconduct. “CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour during matches, especially actions targeting the refereeing team or match organisers,” the statement said. “The Confederation will take all necessary measures against conduct that falls short of the professional standards expected at CAF competitions,” it added.
