External Relations: Projecting Cameroon’s Diplomacy, Activities

An open day organised yesterday permitted students from some secondary schools in Yaounde to get firsthand information about the Ministry
Through a guided tour yesterday March 4, 2026, some students from five secondary schools in Yaounde were shown the different departments of the Ministry of External Relations and their various activities. This was shortly after a general presentation on the mission of the Ministry as prescribed by existing regulation and instructions of the Head of State. The students also had the opportunity to meet and share a moment with the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu, especially as the open day event is being organised within the framework of week-long activities to commemorate the 2026 edition of the Commonwealth and the subsequent launch of activities for La Francophonie next week. Firstly, the students had a session with some officials of the Ministry, with the Director of African Affairs, Ashu Ntaribo Agbornah welcoming them and presenting the good wishes of hierarchy to them. In a general manner, he gave an overview of the activities of the Ministry with regards to international relations. In a more detailed presentation by the Director of Communication, Jean Patrick Koe, the Ministry is responsible for enhancing the foreign policy of Cameroon, under the guidance and instructions of the President of the Republic. In simple words, he told the students that the Ministry of External Relations in charge of implementing the strategies of the Head of State in relation to diplomacy. Equally, they are responsible for projecting the image of the Cameroon at the international scene. He explained to the students that when it comes to diplomacy or issues relating to accredited diplomats and international organisations in Cameroon, the Ministry is the official voice of the government.
