CCAS Kumba Under Fire: Administrative Sanctions Loom For Wall-scaling Staff

The Regional Delegate for Secondary Education for the South West, Dr Njie Martin Esongo, has described the action of the two female teachers as

In an era where digital transparency often collides with professional traditionalism, a viral video has sent shockwaves through the Cameroonian educational system. Leading to a blistering official rebuke from Dr. Njie Martin Esongo, the Regional Delegation for Secondary Education for the South West Region.

Grotesque Footage
The footage, which has circulated widely across social media platforms in late April 2026, depicts a scene that officials have described as "primitive" and a "grotesque breach of professional ethics." Two female teachers of the Cameroon College of Arts and Science (CCAS) Kumba are seen scaling the school’s perimeter wall in full view of their students – just besides the school’s closed gate.
In the background, bewildered students are heard expressing surprise and shock. With one explaining, “Jesus!” Meanwhile, the two female teachers are clearly identifiable in the video that was shot at close range. It is believed that the video was shot by one of the students.

Breach In Broad Daylight
The digital evidence, which began circulating on social media platforms in late April 2026, captures an almost surreal scene of institutional breakdown. In the video, two female teachers are seen hoisting themselves up the masonry into the school campus, before collecting their handbags from people on the other side of the fence.
The presence of young students watching this act of "scaling fences" has been identified by officials as the most "distressing" element of the footage, as it turns the students into spectators of their mentors' delinquency.

Regional Delegate Strikes Back
The response from the administrative hierarchy was swift and uncompromising. On April 30, 2026, Dr. Njie Martin Esongo, the Regional Delegate for Secondary Education for the South West, issued a formal communiqué (Ref: G003/264/MINESEC/RDSW) addressed to the Principal and staff of CCAS Kumba, as well as all secondary school heads in the region. In the document, Dr. Esongo did not mince words, labeling the act as "primitive" and "uncouth". He argued that such behavior transcends mere personal error; it constitutes "institutional sabotage."

Public Derision, Administrative Ridicule
By choosing to bypass official gates for "ingress or egress," these educators effectively stripped themselves of their professional dignity, subjecting the entire teaching corps of the Republic to "public derision and administrative ridicule," the Delegate noted.
The image of a teacher is traditionally one of poise, discipline, and unwavering adherence to the rules. However, a viral video emerging from the Cameroon College of Arts and Science (CCAS) Kumba in Meme Division of the South West Region has shattered that image. Replacing the blackboard with a perimeter wall and the lesson plan with a "commando-style" maneuver that has left the national educational community in a state of shock.

Fall Of Moral Compass
The Delegate’s rebuke centres on a fundamental pedagogical principle: the teacher as a "moral compass." The communiqué posits that an educator's authority is not merely derived from their degree or their position on the payroll, but from their conduct. "When an educator mimics the truant behavior of a delinquent learner by bypassing official gates, they forfeit the moral authority to discipline and guide," Dr. Esongo wrote.
This "decadent behavior" is seen as a direct violation of the "Clean School Policy," a ministerial initiative designed to foster an environment of discipline, transparency, and high moral standards. The Delegate's letter suggests that if teachers treat the school's boundaries as obstacles to be bypassed, they cannot expect students to respect the more abstract boundaries of law, ethics, and social order.

"Commando" Culture, Its Consequences
The use of the term "commando-style" in the official report highlights the Delegate’s view that these actions were a deliberate and tactical subversion of school security and order. In a region where school security is a sensitive and paramount concern, the act of teachers - the very people tasked with student safety - deliberately avoiding "designated official entry points" is viewed as a grotesque security risk and a betrayal of trust.
The consequences for the teachers of CCAS Kumba are expected to be severe. The Regional Delegate has officially notified the "competent hierarchy" to prepare "balanced administrative sanctions" against those found engaging in such "undignified acts." Furthermore, all principals in the South West Region have been "strictly enjoined" to enforce total cessation of these tactics.

Lesson Beyond The Classroom
As the South West Region grapples with the fallout of this digital scandal, the CCAS Kumba incident serves as a stark reminder of the power of social media to hold public officials - including teachers – to account. While the wall at CCAS Kumba may be easy to scale, the climb back to professional respectability for the individuals involved will likely be much more difficult.
Dr. Esongo’s closing appeal to "professional maturity" and the "nobility of our profession" underscores a desperate need to reclaim the sanctity of the campus. For the students who watched their teachers hand over bags and hop over fences, the lesson learned that day was not one found in any textbook. But one that the Ministry of Secondary Education is now working tirelessly to erase.
