Cameroon-Equatorial Guinea: Reinforcing Parliamentary Cooperation

Discussions on reinforcing parliamentary cooperation between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea were held at the Senate. This was during an audience the Senate President, Aboubakary Abdoulaye granted Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea to Cameroon, Armando Kote Echuaca on June 12, 2026. The Ambassador is also the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Cameroon. Speaking to the press after the audience, the Ambassador said their exchanges focused mainly on strengthening these ties at the level of legislative institutions. This is more particularly as both countries each have a bicameral legislature consisting of the Senate and the National Assembly (Chamber of Deputies for the Equatorial Guinea). “My discussion with the Senate President focused on reinforcing cooperation and see how we can move forward in the same direction in all domains, especially parliamentary relations. It is important for the two countries,” the Ambassador stated. Meantime, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea collaborate on broadbased issues with the Ambassador in his capacity as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps having praised the latter’s role as a hub of stability and diplomatic influence in Central Africa during the presentation of new Year Wishes to President Paul Biya in January 2026.
