Reconstructing NW/SW Regions : Presidential Plan Making Life Better

The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute chaired the sixth session in Buea last weekend.
The sixth session of the Steering Committee of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions (PPRD-NW/SW) held in Buea on May 30, 2025. The event at the Buea Mountain Hotel was chaired by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute.
The President of the Steering Committee of the Presidential Plan, Paul Tasong, made an elaborate presentation on the programme and looked through the recovery, reconstruction and development phases. The recovery phase deals with enhancing social cohesion, rehabilitation of basic infrastructure, and revitalising the local economy. The reconstruction phase is reviving the activities of agro industries, supporting the revival of private sector activities and promoting decent employment and economic integration. The development phase on its part looks at increasing local economic path, and strengthening frameworks to support the production system in the North West and South West Regions. The plan runs from 2020 to 2030.
In a power point presentation, Paul Tasong, showcased projects executed such as bridges, schools, boreholes water scheme, agricultural activities among other in the 13 Divisions of the two regions. The projects are already making life better for locals, he pointed out.
To facilitate the recovery phase, the President of the Steering Committee noted that new financial partners have come on board. They are the government of Japan, Boison du Cameroon, Association professionelle de Establishements de Credit du Cameroon, amongst others. A tripartite agreement with SAC – Kumba City Council – PPRC for the construction of a stadium in Kumba was signed.
