Alleged Issues on Lions’ Bonuses : Government Gives Clarifications

The Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, in a communiqué dated November 3, 2025, confirmed that the transfer of the dues is underway.
The Ministry of Sports and Physical Education has issued a comprehensive statement, dated November 3, 2025, debunking rumours of misappropriation of bonuses owed to the Indomitable Lions for their 1-1 draw against Angola on October 13, 2025. In direct response to the allegations, the Ministry confirmed that the funds relating to the team's bonuses, as well as the balance due to the national airline CAMAIR-CO, have been "duly processed by the competent departments of the Ministry of Finance, and the transfer of bonuses to the parties concerned is underway.” “There are therefore no issues with bonuses within the National Football Teams, as the State is fulfilling all its commitments in this matter. Indeed, with the exception of the draw bonus for the Cameroon-Angola match, which is currently being paid, all other bonuses from previous matches, including Olympic bonuses, have been paid in full,” the statement highlighted. The Ministry also revealed that bonuses for other national teams, such as the U-17 Women’s National Team that recently took part in the World Cup and the Senior Women’s National Team that played the double header against Algeria in the qualifiers for the Women’s AFCON, have also been paid.
The statement also highlighted the positive trajectory of the Indomitable Lions, led by Head Coach Marc Brys; enough reason why the payment of their bonuses is a top priority. According to the communiqu&e...
