Cocoa, Coffee Production: Stakeholders Outline Sustainable Future

Cocoa Days 2026 celebration concluded on July 3, 2026 in Yaounde with a roadmap to align Cameroon’s sector with strict European Union deforestation regulations.

Stakeholders in Cameroon's cocoa and coffee sector have resolved to deploy nationwide geolocation and traceability tools, alongside finalizing comprehensive forest mapping to protect local exports. These resolutions were made following a threeday Multi stakeholder dialogue for a sustainable cocoa value chain, that was held in Yaounde from July 1-3, 2026. Addressing sector governance and the convened sustainable cocoa committee during the Cocoa Days 2026 celebration, the General Manager of the National Cocoa and Coffee Board, Michael Ndoping, emphasized structural synergy. "This committee is meant to review working groups and implementation plans. It cannot be another layer of bureaucracy; it must serve as a genuine framework for harmonizing sustainability efforts, enhance social inclusion and child labour prevention," Ndoping stated.
