Decentralisation, Local Development : Experts Examine Role of Digitalisation

 
As the government is resolutely committed to accelerate the decentralisation process in the country, main actors have been meeting in Buea to reflect on the role of digitalisation in enhancing it. To align with the contemporary exigencies of the digital era, the Ministry of Decentralisation is poised to modernise its services to the citizens. Reason for the choice of the theme of the 6th annual Goal-Setting Workshop which runs in Buea from January 19 to 23, 2025, under the auspices of the Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam. Minister Elanga Obam while opening the workshop last Monday January 20, indicated that different actors of decentralisation would be edified at the end on different initiatives aimed at modernizing decentralized territorial collectivities in view of improving the execution of government policy and the quality of service offered to the population by using digital technology.  
Organised on the theme, “Decentralisation and Local Development; Contribution of Digitalisation in the Modernisation of Services offered to Citizens,” the workshop which ends today brought together Senior officials of the Ministry as well as Regional Delegates, Directors-General of corporations and institutions under the supervision of MINDDEVEL and local authorities.
Participants during the Goal-setting workshop were drilled on the advantages of digitalisation in the decentralisation and local development sub-sector by the Director of Computer System.
