Enhancing Romance: Aphrodisiac Products’ Gain Grounds

Major roads and roundabouts in the capital city have been transformed into vibrant marketplaces where vendors sell variety of products, including those claiming to enhance sexual performance. These informal markets offer an array of aphrodisiacs, often with bold claims about their efficacy.

On Tuesday, 21 October 2025, at 11:30 a.m., reporters from Cameroon Tribune (CT) embarked on a tour of Yaounde's bustling aphrodisiac markets. At the Poste Centrale roundabout, adjacent to the Camtel building, three young vendors were observed carrying bottles and bundles of tree barks alongside artificial male genitalia. The oversized replica of the male genital attracted considerable attention from passers-by. As the vendors fled from Yaounde City Council security agents enforcing the no-vending policy in the area, they were eager to engage with the CT team upon realising potential customers were looking for them. Initially, they requested that no photographs be taken of them or their products. The vendors claimed to offer natural sexual enhancement products that were entirely safe and free from adverse effects. According to them, their products are 100 per cent natural and do not require mixing with substances such as “Viagra.” Preparation methods varied, with some products being mixed with milk or water, while others underwent fermentation, tailored to individual requirements.

At the Nsam junction in Yaounde, another vendor, identified as Aicha by the Cameroon Tribune team, was seen promoting an aphrodisiac product called "Performance" and "Secret d'Afrique". She explained that the product's purpose is to cleanse the body and enhance performance during intimacy. "Sometimes, individuals may experience difficulties during intimacy, which is why cleansing is essential to maintain overall well-being,” Aicha noted. She recommended consuming the product for four...
